Olalla is a small town located on the Puget Sound in Washington State , USA. Olalla was one of the original steamer stops before roads connected the towns of the Puget Sound. It has changed very little in the last 100 years(compared to some other Washington towns) For a view of Downtown Olalla , try the following link

If a log house can last fifty years (the time it takes to grow new trees to replace the house logs), it can be said to be a renuable dwelling. Log houses use little if any drywall, nails, insulation, or other added materials. The trees serve as the majority of the materials. The energy used to build a log house need only be log truck fuel, chain saw gas and food to feed the log builders,

The buildings used by the humans in the Olalla Rain Forest are handcrafted log buildings. To view some of these human dwellings check out the following links:

The homepage of the Olalla Rain Forest is intended to be a window into the forest , its creatures and their foibles. The current images were taken in the spring. Check back for a view of the forest as the seasons pass.
